TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Labor/Delivery RN in Carmichael, California, 95608 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Job Specialty: Family Birthing Center (Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shifts, Every Other Weekend, First to Float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Required at submission Certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP Must-Have: Not open to first-time travelers Job Description: - Work in a Family Birthing Center covering Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby aspects. - Handle all aspects of delivery in a "baby-friendly" designated hospital. - Participate in an orientation of 12 hours, plus 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptor for unit-specific training. - Required to complete modules before starting assignment; these take approximately 3-4 hours and are not billable. - Will be working two out of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year---s. - Participate in a self-scheduling system, with final approval and adjustments made by the manager. - Float to other facilities when necessary, with mid-shift floating being rare but possible. - Engage in patient care involving term, preterm, some high-risk cases, and antepartum population. - Provide excellent breastfeeding support to new mothers. - Required to read and interpret EKG strips. - Use Cerner for electronic medical records management. - Must be able to work in a trauma level 2, acute care setting. - Charge Nurse generally does not take patients but will assist with break relief as needed. - Collaboration with 2 RNs during C-sections; one for the mother and one for the baby, both circulate. - Ratios: 1:2 for Labor & Delivery, 1:1 delivery, and 1:4 for Mother/Baby couplets.
